About the Firm

A Financial Operator,
not just a CFO.

JK Financial Services, LLC was built on a simple premise: organizations deserve financial leadership that operates at the intersection of strategy, compliance, and systems — not just reporting.

The Story

Jeffrey S. Kaufman, CPA

"I don't advise from the outside. I build from the inside. There's a difference — and your organization will feel it."

I've been in the room when a DCAA auditor walks in and the indirect rate structure doesn't hold. I've seen a nonprofit lose a federal award because the chart of accounts couldn't produce a compliant Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards. I've watched a GovCon CEO discover that the company was profitable on paper and insolvent in cash — because the billing system was six weeks behind the work.

In every case, the numbers were right. The architecture behind them was wrong. That's not an accounting failure. That's a systems failure. And it's almost always invisible until it isn't.

I built JK Financial Services, LLC around a single conviction: the role of a CFO isn't to report on the past. It's to build the infrastructure that makes the future legible. That means finance architecture first, pressure intelligence second, and governance — including tax — embedded throughout. Not as separate services. As one operating system.

I work with government contractors, nonprofits, and growth-stage organizations nationwide. I work remotely and on-site. I know Unanet and Deltek Costpoint the way a pilot knows their instruments. I understand DCAA, FAR, 2 CFR 200, GAAP, IFRS, and IRS requirements not as compliance checklists — but as the operating environment your finance function has to be built around.

That's what it means to be a Financial Operator. Not a CFO for hire. A finance architect who gets it.

Operating Philosophy

What separates a Financial Operator
from a fractional CFO.

There are thousands of fractional CFOs. Most offer judgment. A Financial Operator offers architecture — and stays to make sure it holds.

01

Financial Clarity

Leadership teams deserve to understand their financial position in real time — not 30 days after the fact. We build the reporting infrastructure that makes financial clarity the default, not the exception.

02

Compliance as Competitive Advantage

DCAA compliance and grant compliance aren't just obligations — they're competitive differentiators. Organizations that get compliance right win more contracts, attract better funders, and scale with confidence.

03

Systems Over Workarounds

Every manual workaround is a symptom of a system problem. We fix the root cause — the chart of accounts, the ERP configuration, the indirect rate structure — not the symptom.

04

Pressure as Information

Financial pressure is information. Cash flow stress, audit findings, and reporting gaps are indicators that the system needs attention. We act on those indicators early and act before they become crises.
